What the COVER does
Covers and caps close housings, retain internal components and keep water, dust and rock cuttings out of assemblies that depend on clean oil. On a drill rig they earn their keep by exclusion rather than by carrying load.

Before you fit it
Renew the gasket or O-ring whenever a cover is removed and clean both faces properly. Most cover leaks are a reused seal on a face that was never cleaned.
