What the FILTER does
Filtration determines the life of every precision component in the drifter — the distributor, the valves and the motor all depend on it. On a percussion machine the oil is being asked to carry away wear debris continuously, so filtration is a duty cycle rather than a formality.
Signs it needs replacing
- Filter indicator in the warning band, or bypass opening
- Contamination found in the oil sample
- Repeat failures of valves or the distributor
- Slow or erratic hydraulic response, especially when cold
Before you fit it
Change filters at the machine's interval, and again after any component failure that put debris into the system. A filter left in bypass is the same as no filter at all, and it is the least expensive component on the machine.
